An Arizona man who pleaded guilty to killing his wife this summer learned his fate Tuesday.
Daniel Padukowsky was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Kelly, in June.
Authorities said Daniel Padukowsky initially reported his wife missing from the Flagstaff area. Police became suspicious before finally arresting him.

Kelly's relatives said Tuesday's court proceedings revealed a motive for the killing: Kelly was planning to divorce Daniel. The findings also revealed that Daniel tried to cover up the murder by texting Kelly's mother on his cell phone.

Family members attending Tuesday's trial described Kelly as a kind, courageous and loving mother. The family issued a statement, which was read on their behalf.

Daniel was also sentenced on other charges related to second-degree murder, and those sentences will run concurrently with the 16-year sentence for the murder charge.
