Vice President Harris continues to hold a narrow lead over former President Donald Trump, according to a new poll, even as Trump widens his lead on the issues that matter most to voters.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted Tuesday showed Harris leading Trump nationally, 45% to 42%, within the margin of error. Meanwhile, Trump's economic approval rating stands at 45%, compared to 40% for Harris. Reuters previously conducted a poll in late November that showed Trump with just a 3-point lead on the issue.
However, Harris maintains a commanding lead in health care, with a 14-point lead over Trump. They also maintain a lead on countering political extremism and protecting democracy, 43% to 38%.
The Reuters poll surveyed 938 American adults online, including 807 registered voters. Of these, 769 people were considered most likely to vote on Election Day. Voting ended on Sunday.

Former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are in a close race for president.
Polls say voters on both sides of the aisle are highly motivated to head to the polls. About 86% of Democrats and 81% of Republicans said they were “completely confident” they would vote in the presidential election.

Reuters noted that 74% of voters broadly say they are certain to vote in the 2020 election, while 78% say the same in the 2024 election.

The poll comes as Harris' campaign warns of a lack of support among black male voters.
