Earlier this month, surveillance video captured a horrifying scene in which a shirtless man posing as a customer at a Florida vape shop attempted to sexually assault a woman working behind the counter around midnight.
Brave women not only fought back, they also appeared in front of the cameras. WTVJ-TV report This is to encourage other women who are experiencing the pain she has endured to speak out without shame and to speak out about this incident.
“I want all the girls to know what happened to me so that if they go through something like that, they can speak up and know that it's not their fault. I want you to know that there is no.”
The man entered the Miami Springs store around midnight on Nov. 9, just before closing time, and police said he initially seemed friendly, asking the female store employee questions.
But soon, surveillance video captured the moment a shirtless man very slowly walked around the counter opening and towards the woman behind the counter. She stepped back.
He then grabbed her wrists and began walking backwards, dragging her away from the counter. She resisted as best she could, begging him to “run away, sir!”
But the man was much taller and stronger, so he dragged her into a back room and pulled her shirt over her face, according to WTVJ.
“He was trying to touch me again, like I said.” [expletive]he tried to take my pants off and I just fought back telling him, “Please stop, don't do anything to me,'' the woman told the station in the aftermath.
Her fightback included a moment when she grabbed the toilet plunger and started hitting him with it, making her scream even louder.
The assault ends in the main part of the store, and the man can be seen letting go of the woman and fleeing the store, according to the video.
“All I could think about was I didn't want to get raped again,” the woman told WTVJ. “I just wanted to save myself as much as I could.”
The department said anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
“I want all the girls to know what happened to me so that if they go through something like that, they can speak up and know that it's not their fault. I want you to know,” the woman added to WTVJ. “It's not your fault that you have to go through something like that and that there are people like him out there.”
