Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman recently said it was “appropriate” for Hunter Biden to receive a pardon from his father, President Joe Biden, and that President Biden would also pardon President-elect Donald Trump. I made it clear that I think it should be done.

Fetterman (D-Pa.) said during an appearance Thursday. ABC News' the viewIn it, Fetterman said he believed both Hunter and Trump's lawsuits were “politically motivated.”
“In both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate. And I really think that, overall, America's confidence in these kinds of institutions has been eroded by these kinds of incidents. We cannot allow it to be used as a weapon against political opponents,” Fetterman said.
Fetterman's comments came after President Biden sparked controversy on Sunday after he claimed his son had been “selectively and unfairly prosecuted” and reiterated that he would not pardon him.
Hunter Biden pleads guilty to nine federal tax charges for falsifying records, failing to file records, and lying on firearms forms to illegally obtain firearms while addicted to crack cocaine He later faced federal firearms and tax charges.
Meanwhile, President-elect Trump is facing a legal battle stemming from 34 counts of first-degree falsification of business records, which he also dismisses as political persecution.
“It's clear that both trials were politically motivated and weaponized by the other side,” Fetterman continued. “I think it's true that President Trump's trial in New York was also political. I think a pardon would be appropriate in both cases.”
Trump's lawyers added that Trump's New York lawsuit should be thrown out because President Biden has openly acknowledged that the Justice Department was used as a political tool.
“In granting Hunter Biden a 10-year pardon for all crimes, prosecuted and unindicted, President Biden said his son was 'selectively and unfairly prosecuted,'” Trump's lawyers said. “I am being treated differently,'' he said.
“President Biden asserted that 'raw politics has infected this process, leading to a miscarriage of justice.'” These comments amount to an extraordinary rebuke of President Biden's own Department of Justice. He added that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had engaged in “exactly the type of political theater that President Biden has denounced.”
