President-elect Trump made the announcement during a visit to the New York Stock Exchange next week with Amazon founder and Washington Post Inc. owner Jeff Bezos.
After ringing the opening bell at the stock exchange, Trump walked the floor to greet traders. He spoke briefly about his plans to meet with Bezos during a visit with CNBC's Jim Cramer.
“Jeff Bezos is coming next week,” President Trump said, hinting that the billionaire would visit Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
A spokesperson for Mr. Bezos did not respond to a request for comment.
The meeting comes as Bezos, like other technology industry leaders, has expressed a desire to deepen his relationship with the president-elect.
washington post did not support Bezos made the decision even though the paper's editorial board drafted support for Vice President Harris, who is a candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Bezos also publicly congratulated Trump on his victory in the November election, something he did not do when President Biden won in 2020.
The president-elect frequently attacked Amazon and the Post newspaper during his first term. Amazon argued in court in 2019 that the Trump administration chose it for the Pentagon contract because of Trump's own bias.
Meanwhile, Meta donated $1 million to President Trump's inaugural fund, the company confirmed to The Hill on Thursday.
The news came just weeks after CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, but this was largely due to the president-elect's return to the White House. It was seen as an attempt to woo him.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX, Tesla and social platform X, has also become an increasingly prominent and influential figure in Trump's orbit since the election.
