The video claims to show Assad's plane crashing near Homs, killing him. One user wrote: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's plane crashes near Holmes! It departed from Damascus airport and circled to reach an altitude of 500 meters. And it crashed! ”
This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video shows a plane crash in India, not Syria. It shows an Indian Air Force MiG-29 that crashed around September. Video of the collision was shared YouTube on Indian Express,
“An Indian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet encountered a serious technical problem during a routine night training mission in Barmer district of Rajasthan and the pilot ejected safely. No casualties or property damage were reported. . A court of investigation has been ordered to investigate the incident,” reads part of the video description.
Al-Assad, the long-time leader of the Syrian Arab Republic, has been granted asylum in Moscow after his government collapsed following a rebel offensive, the media reported. Reuters. There is no evidence that his plane crashed in Syria or elsewhere.
