Thousands of Amazon workers have been preparing to strike since Thursday, days before Christmas, over the tech giant's refusal to begin contract negotiations.
Union Locals across the United States is preparing its members for picketing and action outside Amazon facilities across the country.
Amazon has a Dec. 15 deadline to agree to start negotiations with workers at its JFK8 warehouse on Staten Island, which became the first Amazon warehouse company in the U.S. to win a union election in 2022.
Teamsters Local 299 in Detroit announced changes to the Amazon strike, writing in a Facebook post: “Our sisters and brothers in the Amazon need our help and support. Now is the time to join the Teamsters family. It's time to show them what it means to be.” It was held on December 19th and 20th at a facility in Metro Detroit.
The Teamsters could not be reached for comment. The post by Teamsters Local 299 was later deleted.

Amazon criticized the Teamsters after the strike authorization vote was announced. Amazon spokeswoman Eileen Hands said in a statement: “The Teamsters have actively tried to intimidate, intimidate, and coerce Amazon employees and third-party drivers into participating, which is illegal and subject to multiple pending unfair labor practices.
