NYC homeless shelter worker, 35, stabbed to death in Brooklyn: sources

A worker at a city homeless shelter was stabbed to death outside a Brooklyn facility Thursday night, police officials said.

The Homeless Services employee, 35, was stabbed near the Days Inn Hotel on East New York Avenue in Brownsville, which had become a shelter, around 6:20 p.m., and then ran into the building for help. Police and sources said he fled back inside.

The man suffered stab wounds to his neck and abdomen and was bleeding in the lobby before medics arrived, NYPD and officials said.

He was taken to Brookdale Medical Center but could not be saved.
