President-elect Donald Trump has responded to President Joe Biden's assertion that he would have defeated Biden had the two faced off in a past election.

“He was way behind. I don't think he really had a chance,” Trump said Tuesday night at a New Year's Eve party at Mar-a-Lago with his wife, Melania Trump.
“He was far behind (Harris), but we won in record numbers. I wish him the best,” Trump added, noting that Kamala Harris won on Election Day last November. He noted that he had won a decisive victory over the vice president.
Trump's response was to withdraw from the race, insisting that the 82-year-old Biden and his aides could have defeated Trump, despite several Democratic senators pushing that point. This comes in the wake of reports in the past few months that he is regretting his actions.
On July 21, Mr. Biden bowed to pressure not to seek re-election.cent When he resigned as the Democratic presidential candidate and endorsed Harris as his successor.
Trump laughed at Biden's claims, citing the 82-year-old's dismal poll numbers since Biden's poor performance in the June 27 presidential election.th discussion.

Trump also wished Biden well, saying that the current president had a chance to prove he could beat Biden in the debate, but “it didn't really go well for Biden.”
As “Long Live the Secretary” played at a New Year's Eve party, President Trump predicted that the United States would do “amazingly well” in 2025.
“It's a great year. I think we can do great as a country,” he said. “We're going to bring it back, it has to come back. People don't respect our country very much, but they have to respect us more.”
President Trump also said there had been “huge progress” in the past five weeks since his election victory.
“Perfect light is shining over the whole world,” he said. “There are a lot of very happy people, not just in our country.”
President Trump also confirmed that he will attend former President Jimmy Carter's funeral scheduled for January 9th in Washington, DC.th.
“I will. I'll be there. We're invited,” President Trump said.
