President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that three major tech executives are partnering to invest $5 trillion in America's artificial intelligence infrastructure.
President Trump unveiled the large investment at the White House, with Oracle Boar Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also present.
“We are starting to see huge amounts of investment flowing into our country at a level that no one has ever seen before. They are confident in the fact that I won the race and in their investment. “I'm very happy with the fact that that's a lot of money and high-quality people,” President Trump said.
President Trump said Ellison, Song and Altman are working on “the largest AI infrastructure project in history,” all happening right here in the United States.
They have founded a company called “Stargate”.
Stargate “will invest at least $500 billion in America's AI infrastructure, move very quickly, very quickly, and create more than 100,000 American jobs almost immediately,” President Trump said.
President Trump added, “This monumental undertaking is a powerful statement of confidence in America's potential under a new president.”
Ellison, Justice and Altman all gave short speeches after Trump, all emphasizing that this huge investment would not have happened without the 47th president.
“Thank you, Mr. President. We certainly couldn't have accomplished this without you. It's just not possible,” Ellison told Trump.
He then detailed that data centers are under construction and noted that he and Oracle are working with SoftBank and Masayoshi, as well as OpenAI and Altman.
In fact, we've been working with OpenAI for a while and we've been working with Masa for a while as well. The data center is actually under construction. The first of these is under construction in Texas. Each building is 500,000 square feet in area. We currently have 10 buildings under construction, which will expand to 20 buildings and expand to other locations beyond our initial Abilene location.
Ellison detailed one application Stargate plans to build a center around electronic medical records.
The kinds of applications we're building are probably the most charismatic and the ones that we think will impact us all. Not only by maintaining an electronic health record, but also by reviewing the electronic health record…doctors can gain a deeper understanding of the patient's condition and provide a much better medical plan than usual.
As an example, Ellison said, “Physicians at the Indian River Reservation will be able to observe how their colleagues at Stanford and other hospitals around the country develop treatment plans for patients.”
Mr. Justice emphasized that this investment is an important example of the beginning of America's “Golden Age,” echoing Mr. Ellison's comments that this would not have happened without President Trump.
“As you said yesterday, this is the beginning of America's Golden Age. I think this is a great example, right?'' Mr. Masayoshi said. “We wouldn't have made this decision. This is the beginning of a golden age. If you hadn't won, we wouldn't have made this decision.”
Masayoshi said the ultimate goal is “artificial superintelligence.”
“I think it’s AGI.” [artificial general intelligence] It's coming soon. “And then after that — that's not the goal — artificial superintelligence will start solving problems that humans never thought they could solve,” he said. “Now, this is the beginning of our golden age.”
Like Mr. Ellison and Mr. Justice, Mr. Altman said the investment would not have been possible without Mr. Trump.
“We couldn't have done this without you, Mr. President, and we're very happy to have done it. I think it's going to be an exciting project,” Altman said.
“I think all the great things they talked about, we can do, too. But I think the fact that we can do this in the United States is great,” he added.
Masayoshi said MGX is an investment partner and Nvidia is a technology partner.
President Trump also asked for details on how artificial intelligence can be used to fight diseases, and Ellison explained that AI can help detect cancer, adding that one of the projects the group is working on is “cancer vaccines.” ”, he pointed out.
“Cancer diagnosis using AI could be just a blood test, but beyond that, once the genetic sequence of a cancer tumor is known, it could be possible to vaccinate that person. “We can design a personalized vaccine to vaccinate an individual against that cancer,” Ellison said.
“That vaccine, or an mRNA vaccine, can be made robotically in about 48 hours, again using AI,” he added.
“Now imagine early cancer detection, the development of a cancer vaccine for your specific cancer, and that vaccine is available within 48 hours. This is the promise of AI. and the promise of the future,” Ellison concluded.
