Trump to nix Biden restrictions on water-using appliances, lightbulbs: ‘Common sense standards’

WASHINGTON – President Trump on Tuesday declared that former President Joe Biden's restrictions on water use equipment and energy-eating light bulbs would be reversed.

Trump said he has directed Lee Zeldin's Environmental Protection Agency Commissioner to implement an order “quickly” return to his first administration standards.

“I'm here to Secretary Lee Zeldin and I'll be back to the environmental orders immediately regarding the flows and flows related to the environmental orders terminated by the bent Joe Biden, the sinks, showers, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers and more. “We're directing that we go back to the common sense standards of light bulbs introduced by the Trump administration but ended by a bent Joe,” Trump wrote about the society of truth.

“I look forward to signing these orders. Thank you!!!”

The Biden administration has set new energy efficiency standards for various appliances, saying the move will save Americans money and combat the country's carbon footprint.

Many of the regulations were scheduled to come into effect in 2027 and 2029. The Biden Department of Energy had already signed off on the compliance policy required for dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines, cooking products and more.

While in office, Biden also overturned the rule that Trump wanted it, allowing more water to flow through the shower head. In 2020, Trump was jokingly working to relax the water pressure standards as his hair had to look “perfect.”

Additionally, the Biden administration pledged “staged” plastic in July 2024, including federal foodservice straws.

Biden's energy sector has also fixed new standards for light bulbs, requiring new bulbs to be produced more energy-efficiently after July 2028. The new efficiency standard was intended to ban halogens and incandescent bulbs.

Light bulb rules have been in work since 2007 with the passing of the Energy Independence and Security Act, but the Trump administration prevented the rules from becoming effective in his first term.

Trump has been opposed to new light bulbs for years, claiming that incandescent bulbs will be cheaper and that people will look better with soft yellow light.

“They took our light bulbs,” he said at a 2019 rally. “I want incandescent light. I want to see it well

“I want them to pay less to make them look better,” Trump said. “Does that make sense? You pay much less and look much better. On top of that, if a new light bulb breaks, it is considered a dangerous waste site. It It's all internal gas and you're supposed to return it to the place you purchased in a sealed container. Take a break.”
