The Virginia High School League (VHSL) said Monday it will comply with President Trump's new Title IX rules, which prohibit transgender athletes from playing in sports for girls and women.
The state's governing body for school sports said it follows the new Title IX rules. Fox News.
“VHSL is an association consisting of 318 member schools with over 177,000 students participating in sports and academic activities each year. VHSL is a governing body, and our member schools are based on policy and guidance. We focus on and rely on VHSL, so VHSL will comply with executive orders,” said John W. Havn, executive director of VHSL, in a statement posted to X.
“Compliance provides a clear and consistent direction for membership,” the statement added.
The move was to President Trump sign a executive order on February 5 to change Title IX rules to withdraw federal funds from schools that allow trans athletes to play as women. It will take place in a week.

“The war with women's sports is over,” he cried.
Many organizations and schools line up in line with Title IX rules, including the NCAA, which officially banned trans-athletes in women's sports the day after Trump's new rules were announced.
“Student-athletes assigned males at birth may not compete on female teams,” reads the new NCAA policy.
“The NCAA is an organization consisting of 1,100 universities in all 50 states collectively registering over 50,000 student-athletes,” NCAA president Charlie Baker said in a statement. “We strongly believe that clear, consistent, uniform eligibility standards, rather than contradictory state laws and patchwork of court decisions, will best serve student-athletes today, and that's why President Trump's orders are provides clear national standards.”
However, others have said they are moving to reject Trump's change and will refuse to comply, including the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
