NYC to Sue Trump Administration over $80 Million in Funding Revoked for Migrant Shelters

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is reportedly planning to file a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration over revoking more than $80 million in immigration shelter funds for the city. It's there.

“We intend to take legal action by February 21, 2025.” Get Read it by the New York Post. “The Legal Department is currently drafting litigation documents on this issue.”

The letter, written by Adams administration's lawyer Muriel Good Turphant, was reportedly sent to Mayor Brad Lander, who is facing Adams this summer's Democratic primary for New York City on Friday.

“On this issue, the Secretary's office does not require permission to attract outside lawyers, as the Legal Department represents New York City,” writes Good Turphant.

The letter will allow Lander to file a lawsuit against the Adams administration or hire his own lawyer to file a lawsuit against President Trump and the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE). I came just hours after I called out to.

“Given the severity of the situation, we can't afford to waste any more time,” Lander said in a statement Friday. “If the mayor prefers to spend his days moving forward with President Trump's agenda rather than fighting for New Yorkers, then the Legal Department must allow me to do so.”

Lander went on to argue that “recovering these funds is essential,” and that “the Trump administration will move forward without consequences is a dangerous precedent.”

The revocation of FEMA funds for New York City's immigration shelters occurred Tuesday, and reportedly shocked Mayor Adams.

Meanwhile, Lander ironically accused President Trump and Musk of committing “highway robberies” by preventing taxpayer dollars from being spent on city immigration shelters.

In particular, after Musk announced that Doge had discovered $59 million in FEMA payments since last week, Musk announced that it was being used to house illegal aliens in “luxury hotels in New York City.” .

The payment came after former President Joe Biden's administration claimed that FEMA was not using funds to support illegal foreigners.
