Daniel Jones becomes wild card in Steelers’ muddled quarterback chase

One team's trash was a treasure of another, and the Steelers were able to go for a trash can dive in a 2025 quarterback search.

Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Filipponi said on Tuesday that the Steelers were interested in former quarterback Daniel Jones and detailed why the previous first-round picks were good at Steel City. I've reported it.

“I'm interested in former Giants QB Daniel Jones within the Steelers organization.” fillipponi said in x. “Quote: '[The Steelers] He can do much worse than Jones. ” He is actually a perfect fit for Arthur Smith's offense. Mike Tomlin's preference for mobile quarterback. ”

Jones has run the ball 227 times in the last three years (5th at quarterback), and in theory is suitable for teams looking for dual threat options.

It was similar to how Pittsburgh used Jones to hire former round pick quarterback Justin Fields, who started six games for the Steelers last season before pivoting to Russell Wilson.

The offensive coordinator Arthur Smith's scheme was an extension of Matt La Fleur's system after serving under him in Tennessee and Green Bay, producing solid counts from both fields and Wilson.

Wilson, at this point in his 36-year-old career, threw 16 touchdowns and five interceptions to the playoff berth on his way to the playoff berth, but is a pocket passerby.

The Steelers and Wilson struggled on the stretch as they lost five straight wins, including an uncompetitive playoff loss to the Ravens.

Team owner Art Rooney expressed interest in signing a long-term extension on Field or one of Wilson, but not both.

Jones is now emerging as the third possible alternative to Steelers Radar.

Jones threw just 2,070 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games against the Giants before getting on the bench, eventually demanding his release.

He then signed on with Minnesota Vikings practice team and coach Kevin O'Connell.

The Betting Market Project Steelers will land Aaron Rodgers if he continues playing.
