Clanton announced on his Instagram Thursday that he had signed his endorsement with Nike.

“I'll say in the future I'll keep doing it slowly,” Clanton said in a video he posted.

“Every step and every person in charge led me to this moment. But those moments don't define me. This is just the beginning. Now, it's time to get into it all. It's time to go further. Bigger dreams. Push harder. It's time… just do it.”

When Clanton makes a cut at next week's Cognitive Classic, he receives a PGA Tour card. Tour acceleration program. Anyone who earns 20 points by the end of third grade will automatically receive a PGA Tour card. Still a junior, Clanton is currently the world's top amateur, with a total accumulation of 19 points.

He approached winning the card at the WM Phoenix Open two weeks ago, but missed the cut with a stroke. If his birdie fell on hole 18, Clanton would have been a member of the PGA Tour.

“That's not my time, man,” Clanton said.

“The Lord has a plan for me with every step I take and every shot I hit. He has a plan, and this week is not due, not last week's schedule, but at Sony. It wasn't the deadline. The time will come, and I'm going to be confident in him.”

Perhaps that time will come at PGA National next week. There, Clanton will boast a new look.
