INDIANAPOLIS – The Jets knew they were moving ahead of Aaron Rodgers, but they haven't yet said what the plan is for Rodgers' running buddy, Davante Adams.
General Manager Darren Moogie and coach Aaron Glenn will just say that the star wide receiver is still on the roster…for now.
“He's on the team now,” Glenn said. “We have to continue the conversation about how we move in that direction. We're in a business of bringing together good players. We'll see how that goes.”
Adams has a $38.3 million salary cap in 2025, and the Jets could cut him.
They may be trying to exchange him before making that move.
Mougey wouldn't say if he still gave Adams and his agents permission to talk to other teams.
“Davante is on the team now,” Moogie said. “Obviously, we have a plan out there. We'll deal with that problem in the next few weeks. Now he's on the team.”
If the Jets want Adams to return, they will have to sign a new contract in 2025, but it's unlikely that Adams would want to stay without Rogers.
Mougey wouldn't say if he plans to discuss contract expansion with WR Garrett Wilson or CB Sauce Gardner. The first round picks of 2022 will be eligible for the expansion that will be in its fourth season.
“I'm excited that they're on the roster, two young, good players, talented players,” Moogie said. “I'm excited that they're part of the roster.”

He was asked if it was on his “to-do list” to accomplish anything with them.
“The to-do list is about keeping good young players in your team and adding good players,” says Mougey.
As expected, Mougey kept the door open to various options, seventh overall in the draft.
