President Trump Signs Fresh Batch of Executive Actions

President Donald Trump signed three enforcement actions Tuesday, including a memo suspending security clearance for law firm members who supported then-specialist adviser Jack Smith.

Notes addressed to all relevant agencies and departments will suspend clearance for Covington & Burling LLP members, partners and employees. According to the memo, weaponization of the judicial process.

Smith, as a special advisor, specifically investigated Trump in two now-dropped federal cases.

Trump has also directed a review of government contracts with law firms.

In addition to the memorandum, the president has signed two executive orders. One of them is aimed at making health prices more transparent.

“The order directs departments of the Treasury, Labor and Health and Human Services to promptly implement and implement Trump's transparent medical price regulations.

“The department will ensure that hospitals and insurance companies disclose actual prices rather than estimated and take action to rival prices at hospitals and insurance companies, including prescription drug prices.”

The second order will begin an investigation through the Department of Commerce into the threat that copper has been imported to “US national security and economic stability,” according to the White House fact sheet.

“This study assesses the US dependence on imported copper, national security risks arising from relying on all forms of reliance on, and the potential need for trade relief to protect domestic industries.” The White House said.

The division adds, “We will produce reports that identify vulnerabilities in the copper supply chain and provide recommendations to increase the resilience of the domestic copper industry in the United States.”
