The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the American Sociological Association (ASA) filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Tuesday over crackdowns on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in schools.
Litigation We will target February 14th specifically. Note It was released by the Department of Education, which threatens to cancel federal funds from schools that do not suspend all racist practices and programs. The second largest teachers union in the country, the ASA argues that the letter “misinformed” the law surrounding schools' ability to use race as a factor in their decision-making.
“This letter will be fundamentally reversed and rewritten, or otherwise established jurisprudence,” the lawsuit argues. “There is no federal law that hinders education on race and racial-related topics. The Supreme Court does not prohibit efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in education. The Department of Education (“Department”) ”) is seeking to establish a new legal system if there is no legal capacity of the Congress or the right to interpret the court. ”
“However, this letter suggests that the broad range of core instructions, activities and programs that schools use to teach and support students, from pre-kindergarten to post-graduation education, constitute illegal discrimination. “The lawsuit continues.

The Education Department letter reminded the school that “discrimination and continuing to be illegal based on race, color or national origin.”
“Despite the fact that such programming is legal and that George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Joe's previous presidential administrations were legal, the letter banned all programming. It appears to be (“DEI”). Biden supports such efforts,” the lawsuit states. “Finally, despite calling the Supreme Court's 2023 decision on university admissions, this letter goes far beyond that, and many legal entities that promote inclusion and increase diversity of all types. , evidence-based, well-accepted way, is still considered discriminatory by this administration.”
The union is asking the court to declare departmental letters illegal and unconstitutional.
President Donald Trump has worked to eradicate DEI and other radical topics from schools and federal agencies and to sign several executive orders banning federal funding for such topics. Though many school leaders have refused to follow Trump's orders, they have vowed to continue teaching radical and discriminatory topics. The Biden administration has injected millions of taxpayer funds into schools on topics such as “LGBTQ inclusion” and “anti-racism and anti-attack.” Former President Joe Biden's education division is also trying to redefine Title IX, which protects women from discrimination, allowing men to use women's bathrooms, locker rooms to participate in women's sports, including gender identity. I did it like that.
