The Trump administration has put a temporary suspension on all military aid to Ukraine following the collapse of negotiations at the White House last week.
Last week, the Trump administration had planned to sign an agreement that would economically link the US to Ukraine through a mineral trade agreement, but the deal collapsed when Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky began lawsuits on terms of diplomatic relations during a White House press conference. Since then, President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he doesn't think Zelensky has any desire to mediate a peace deal with Russia.
Talk to White House official Fox News I said The suspension of aid will be temporary until Ukraine shows its commitment to peace.
“This is not a permanent termination of aid, it's a suspension,” authorities said. “The order is now on.”
A Ukrainian defense adviser told Fox News that the country would not sign an agreement unless it could obtain security guarantees.
“We cannot sign a contract without substantial guarantees,” the advisor said. “It's not going well. It's just rewarding the attacker.”
Zelesnsky refused to apologise for how the White House press conference unfolded, and later told Fox News anchor Bret Baier that he believes it will save relations with the US.
“It's a historic relationship, a strong relationship between our people, so I always started to thank your people from our people,” Zelensky said. “I would like to thank the President, and of course Congress, but first of all, my thanks to your people. Your people helped us save our people… We were very hoping to have all these strong relationships, and as we counted, we have it.”
Trump also told reporters he wanted to thank more from Zelenskey.
“I think he should be more grateful because this country is thick and thin and stuck with him,” Trump said. “We gave far more than Europe. Europe should have given us more than we do because, as you know, it's right there.
