The world is not what it was before. At least it's how it feels.
Every day we wake up to another headline that sounds more like a dystopian novel than a real life. Moral collapse, erosion of individual freedom, blatant hostility towards biblical truths – not occurring overnight, but acceleration is dizzy. It's easy to look around and think, “This is it, this is it.”
We don't always look at his plans clearly, but we trust the one who controls everything.
Last year, the darkness felt particularly choking. Conservative parents who are protesting at school board meetings and Christians praying quietly at abortion clinics have been targeted by the Biden Department of Justice. Policies have been enacted that undermined families, erode religious freedom, and weakened our national sovereignty.
The globalist elite declares, “You will own nothing, and you will be happy.” Big Government, Big Technology, Big Finance, Big Pharma – Everything is marching in Rock Step towards a world without individual freedom. And for those who resist? They are silenced, cancelled, crushed.
At moments like this, despair whispers to our ears.
The absolute right of God
When the world is freed, it is easy to forget that nothing will happen outside of God's rule. The government is furious, the tyrants plan, and civilization may fall apart, but no one event unfolds other than the hand of our king's sovereignty. History is not caught up in chaos. We are marching towards fulfilling God's eternal plan.
The Bible makes this clear: “The heart of the king is the flow of water in the hands of the Lord; he will turn it everywhere” (Proverbs 21:1). All rulers, governments, regimes – even those who oppose God – are still subject to his authority.
When persecution increases, when the world becomes dark or loses its mind, we do not panic. Instead, we stand firm, knowing that the same God who works all things for our goodness (Romans 8:28) will also work all things for His ultimate glory. We don't always look at his plans clearly, but we trust the one who controls everything.
How should Christians respond?
Knowing that God is sovereign gives us no excuse to retreat from the battle. It's quite the opposite – it's a bold foundation, Bold and fearless action. So, how should we live?
1. Reject passivity and despair
Recognizing God's sovereignty is one thing. Living the way we believe it is another. Too many Christians surrendered to passivity. God's control believes that it means inert while the world burns around them.
But throughout history, faithful men fought, preach, work and suffered, trusting God's plan of unfolding, even if they could not see the big picture. The first Corinthians 15:25 reminds us that Christ actively ruled and still suppressed his enemies. When culture becomes hostile and governments suppress it, we do not despair. We pick up our tools, stand firm in truth, and move forward with unwavering faith.
The gates of Hell will not win against the Church of Christ.
2. Living as people of hope and action
Our thinking should not be determined not by headings, but by the unshakable reality that Jesus Christ is King. We are not terrified. We go to faith. God's Kingdom is moving forward, and we are called active participants, rejecting despair and indifference. No matter how dark it looks, we keep pushing because we know how the story ends – Christ wins.
As Martin Luther said, “Even if I know that the world will fall apart tomorrow, I will still plant an apple tree.”
We don't wait for a better day to act. We now live in faith, plant seeds for the future, and trust that God will bring about a harvest.
3. Strengthen the foundation
The erosion of civilization does not begin with policies or politicians, but with rejection of truth. When the truth is abandoned, families weakens, churches compromise, and society collapses.
To see lasting change, we must take responsibility for the next generation, regain our education, and strengthen our foundations, being prepared to think biblically and stand firmly. But it's not just education. We must also build Christian institutions, churches that preach the perfect counsel of God, businesses that operate with integrity, and communities that are rooted in Bible values. The enemy is about to dismantle these pillars, but we must be less conscious about rebuilding them.
The church must restore truth, strengthen our families, and regain the cultural basis we have given away. We don't need permission to live, as God has called us. You need the courage to do that.
Long game
History quickly changes, and when darkness appears overwhelming, God moves. The early churches endured brutal persecution, but the gospel spread like wildfires. Reformers opposed the corrupt religious system, unleashed the Word of God and changed the nation. The tyrant repeatedly tries to break the truth, but only fails. This should give us confidence!
Donald Trump's reelection changed policies and reversed some of the damages he had inflicted by the Democrats. This gave me a breathing room to make progress. But our hopes are not for politicians. Christ reigns now, and our mission remains the same no matter who has earthly power.
The church lasted its empire. Rome fell. The Soviet Union has collapsed. Countless oppressive governments have come, but the body of Christ remains, and his kingdom is progressing. “For he must rule until he places all his enemies under his feet” (Corinthians 15:25).
We don't fight for short-term victory alone – we build over the long term. We don't just survive – we move forward. And we do so with complete confidence that the globalist agenda will also fail civilization, and that oppressive governments will not overthrow the king's king.
The governance of Christ – Now
If there is one truth that should shape our way of life, it is this: Christ rules. Not someday, not after a future event. He sits at his father's right hand, rule over everything, bringing history to the appointed end. The collapse of the nation, the rise of tyrants, the chaos of our times – it is not out of his control.
In other words, there is no reason to fear it.
There are so many Christians today that they live as if they are losing. But reality is the exact opposite. God's kingdom is progressing, and Christ's enemies are being suppressed. All the cultural battles, political upheavals and struggles we face are another step towards fulfilling his plan. Our job is not to retreat or despair, but to declare Christ, to make disciples, to take control.
So we have faith, not fear. We build up, fight, raise our children to love the Lord, and we will enchant every idea with Christ's obedience. We measure success not by election cycles or news headlines, but by the unwavering promises of God's Word.
Winning is certainly true. Christ reigns. Now, let's live like that.
