Trump threatens 200% tariffs on all alcohol from EU countries after whiskey tax

President Trump on Thursday threatened 200% tariffs on all alcohol products coming from the European Union after the US collected 50% tax on whiskey coming from the US.

“The European Union, one of the world's most hostile and abusive tax and customs authorities formed for the sole purpose of using the United States, has placed a nasty 50% tariff on whiskey,” Trump, 78, posted to his true society.

“If this tariff is not removed immediately, the US will soon place a 200% tariff on all wine, champagne and alcoholic products coming from France and other countries representing the EU. This is perfect for the US wine and champagne business.”
