On HBO's “real-time” broadcast on Friday, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (d) told Republicans that Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told Republicans, “We're saying we need A., B., C., and D, or that he told Republicans they were saying he needed him to protect half of him, to give birth to someone they're concerned about. Shutdown.
Host Bill Maher asked: “The Republicans proposed the budget, Chuck Schumer said he would vote for it, and then he had ten Democrat senators vote with him. The other side of the party is furious at this, and the AOC calls him a traitor. Where is this standing? Did Schumer do the right thing or is it the rest of the party? Because that's the party's disparity.”
Shapiro tries to avoid those issues and focus on Pennsylvania rather than “experts” in DC's issues, saying, “I think it's a false choice to suggest that resistance is necessary. I think it's a false choice.”
Maher then stated that this was a specific vote and that he had to vote in one way or another.
Shapiro said, “When Chuck Schumer had leverage here, we would have wanted to see when we needed A., B., C., and D.
Maher then said, “Can I force a Republican to do something now?”
Shapiro replied, “Because they needed eight Democratic votes in the US Senate.”
