The deadline is approaching for more than 1.1 million Americans who have not yet requested a $1,400 stimulus check from pandemic-era relief.
The deadline for claiming a stimulus check is April 15, 2025, but individuals may be eligible to receive it only if they fail to file their 2021 tax return. The IRS pointed out.
Funds can be deposited directly into a eligible taxpayer bank account or sent via a paper check to the address of the file.
Recovery Rebate Credit A refundable credit to those who have not received one or more Covid-19 stimulus payments.
The IRS began issuing payments to eligible people in December 2024.
In December, the agency said it had found many eligible taxpayers who filed returns but did not claim available credit. These filers were able to receive payments from the IRS by January.
If you are unsure of an individual, you can check your 2021 tax return and look for a recovery rebate credit line to check. You can also contact the IRS to determine if your credit has been charged.
If your adjusted gross income is less than $75,000, a single filer will be fully qualified at $1,400. If the combined adjusted gross income is less than $150,000 and the dependents are able to earn $1,400 regardless of age, the jointly submitted married couples qualify for $2,800. CNBC reported.
The IRS generally allows individuals to submit a refund or credit within three years. In other words, the April 15th deadline, less than 30 days, is the last time you can distribute funds.
