Lawyers from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, including Rachel Cohen, have resigned and shared a sharp resignation letter calling on the firm to stand up to President Trump amid its recent actions.
Cohen shared a screenshot of the letter on LinkedIn, which went viral with over 1,145 reposts by Saturday evening.
On LinkedIn, she described the moment as “existential.”
“If I’m on this career path, my industry accepts that authoritarian governments enable courts to ignore, which isn’t inherent to Skadden. Others refuse to go far beyond their pay.”
Cohen’s resignation comes as Trump’s administration overturned an executive order reviewing security clearances for lawyers at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. This reversal follows the company’s commitment to providing $40 million in free legal services for cases representing the full scope of society’s political perspectives.
