Trump’s show of support for Conor McGregor is making fertile ground for Ireland’s far right | Justine McCarthy

mIdl Ireland feels heavily humiliated by the US president. On St. Patrick's Day, when the Earth is traditionally green, Donald Trump's official guest at the White House was not Taoisiech, carrying a bowl of Shamrock, but the unelected stubborn man recently discovered by a civil court ju-degree judge who is in charge of raping women at a hotel in Dublin. The fear and dislike of Conor McGregor, a mixed martial arts fighter facing civil trial in the United States over alleged sexual assault on another woman in Florida, is one of Middle Ireland's most unified forces.

“We couldn't think of a better guest with us on St. Patrick's Day,” he said on March 17th Trump spokesman Caroline Leavitt spurted out and rubbed salt on the wounds. McGregor was given access to the Pentagon and met Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses, Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. In the oval office, McGregor and his family posed for a photo with the US president. The man was also held responsible for the sexual assault. Famous in the photo was Elon Musk, the richest individual in the world and the inventive trump work that Trump has not been selected. McGregor gifted the mask a box of his own brand of cigars. Four days later, Dubliner, self-styled “The Notorious” announced him I'm going to fight Ireland's presidential election will be held later this year.

McGregor's declaration received little international attention in his country. Former fighter jets, candidates are Safe nominations From either 20 members of the council or four local governments. It is very unlikely that he will be able to get support to compete in the competition to succeed Michael D. Higgins, a poet and former anti-war activist who has been president for the past 14 years.

So far, the centre is still held in Ireland. The election last November brought the same two centralist parties back to the government, which they had ruled since the state foundation. However, there is wobble in the center. On the other side of the Atlantic, Trampocle appears to believe that it can change the structural plate by supporting McGregor.

Middle Ireland is politically in the middle of the road, dissatisfied with the liberal politically revised mad over gender equality, and should not be confused with middle class Ireland as transgender rights and immigration transcends social classes. Despite being ranked as one of the richest countries in the world, Ireland is suffering from a prolonged homeless crisis, squealing public infrastructure by losing housing prices. Since the 1990s, he has reformed himself from Grimm-Catholic orthodoxy to a tolerant modernity by passing a referendum offering divorce, same-sex marriage and abortion.

This, according to JD Vance, creates a certain appetite for the gospel. This has decided that Europe will curb hatred and misogynistic online commentary, ban protests outside of abortion clinics, and “deciding to open floodgates to millions of migrants.”

McGregor doesn't need to be president to activate Ireland's small but vocal minority to the fierce right. He appeared as he was when violent protests broke out in Dublin city centre in November 2023 after two children and a kindergarten teacher were stabbed in the street. “Ireland, we are at war,” he had posted on Mask's X platform the previous day. Riot police are deployed to anti-immigration demonstrations.

The Irish government was not notified of McGregor's visit to the White House, but also when an unexplained departure from normal protocols and St. Patrick's Day visit to Taoiseach Micheál Martin was submitted a week before. What really infuriated Middle Ireland was McGregor's obscure disloyalty when he was invited to meet journalists in the White House press conference room. Martin said McGregor's claims were “false” and did not reflect the views of the Irish people. The Dublin Rape Crisis Center said the White House visit was designed to “wash” McGregor's reputation.

McGregor's visit to the White House is said to be “sinister,” but the most sinister thing is why he was invited to St. Patrick's Day, previously invited to Trump's January inauguration. The White House is actively courting the far right of Europe. A week after giving a Nazi-like salute at Trump's inauguration fest, Musk urged representatives at the campaign event for the German alternative Deutschland party to prevent immigrants from diluting their culture. Italian right-wing prime minister Giorgia Meloni and Hungary's Victor Orban are seen as Trump's best friends in the EU.

Political, Ireland is a small potato, but as an English-speaking country, it is a member of the Western EU and a non-nat member, a potential back door to the conversion of European trumperacy to the gospel. The country is particularly vulnerable due to the high density of US pharmaceutical and tech companies.

Trump has repeatedly complained about the EU's 13 billion euro tax penalty against Ireland's Apple, and his Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, describes the country's corporate tax system as his. My favorite “tax scam”. Considering the benefits of trade with the US, Ireland's economic growth fell into a recession and Trump was to punish it with tariffs. The inevitable social upheaval will become a fertile ground where McGregor and his likeness thrive. The danger is real. In November, the patriarch of one of the most prominent crime families approached being nailed to winning a seat in Dáil's parliament.

Now, Ireland is dragged into an international swamp of toxic masculinity, as a result of McGregor's oval office outings. Responding to Tánaiste Simon Harris's accusations of him and former kickboxer Andrew Tate as “social pariah.” The latter was scathing. “A deep, weak man will do whatever it takes to stop a powerful man who will regain control of the system,” denied the influencer facing rape fees in Romania.

Ireland holds his nose at the sight of McGregor in the White House, but Trump's fanboy holds his breath in his eyes above him.
