Trump Admin Asks Supreme Court To Block Order Forcing Payout Of Canceled DEI Education Grants

The Trump administration on Wednesday called on the Supreme Court to block a lower court order directing reinstatement of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)-related education grants.

Biden-appointed US District Judge Myung-Goo Joo-un issued an order on March 10th closing the Department of Education (DOE) efforts.

“The administration has decided to terminate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)-related grants,” deputy Attorney General Sarah Harris wrote in the application. “Even so, by district court order, many of these grantors can request grant payment.

The application argues that the case is an “ideal candidate” “as a self-appointed manager in determining administrative funding and grant decisions to unconstitutional governance that promptly terminates the unconstitutional governance of the federal district court.” (Related: Trump's education sector is $600 million axes with “social justice activism” grants)

“Unless there is a prompt appeal review of these orders, there is no purpose for district courts to fiscal micromanagement,” the application continues. “Only this court can straighten the ship, and it is time to do so.

The judge requested a response to the application by 4pm on Friday.
