On Wednesday's “Alex Marlow Show,” John Carney, editor of Breitbart News Economics, discussed Pat Buchanan's policy legacy.
Carney said, “Pat Buchanan was really quite formative for me. He was rightly convinced that America's post-Cold War interventionism was crazy. So I opposed – I was a child at the time – but I opposed the fallen Panama government, but I opposed the invasion that went in Somalia. So I opposed the overthrow of the Haitian government. For America.”
He continued, and unfortunately, the American cost made this wrong and Pat didn't see that we formed the WTO and allowed China to become members of the WTO. Enter the WTO and it becomes a democracy, this is great. You need to warn people about what will happen. I knew Iraq was a disaster. We saw that by bringing China into the WTO, American industrial bases were destroyed. So, what Pat was doing, in a way, should be aware, “Lighting the fire at the signal, Mordor is coming.” And people said, no, we've heard this warning before, nothing bad happens. It was here that Trump came. And Americans were awake to the fact that they needed to do something. ”
He said, “I really want that. Frankly, Donald Trump should award Pat Buchanan the medal of freedom because he was a precursor to many of what we do today. Look, I don't think Pat was inspired. I deserve a very public recognition from the American people for what he warned us.
