Scientists discover never-before-seen color by zapping eye with laser: ‘Off the charts’

California scientists claim they have discovered a new jaw drop colour that humans have never seen before.

catch? You need to zap your eyes with a laser pulse to see it.

Five scientists at Berkeley University used laser technology to selectively activate cells in the retinal, pushing their vision beyond their natural limits.

Austin Lolda, a professor of optometry and vision science at Berkeley, is one of the lucky fives who saw “Oro.”

The result was a kind of peacock turquoise tint that was intense outside the range of colours normally seen in the human eye.

“The level of saturation is off the charts,” says Berkeley computer scientist Ren Ng. I said it naturally.

Only five people have seen the mysterious new colour. “Oro” has been baptized. But it’s like they’ve never seen before, they said.

“There’s no way to convey that color in an article or monitor,” said Austin Lolda, the team’s vision scientist. I told the Guardian.

“The whole point is that this is not the colour we see. That’s not the colour we see. The colour we see is that version, but it definitely pales in comparison to Oro’s experience.”

Ng believes that the technology can not only create new colors, but also pave the way for treatment for people with color blindness.

Researchers published research this week on scientific advancements.
