The climate activist was arrested Wednesday for destroying presidential plaques inside Trump Tower in New York City.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that authorities have painted 36-year-old Brooklyn resident Nathaniel Smith with “American” spray paint on the president’s plaque and kneeled on the floor with a small banner reading “Game Over.” Video captured the moment of vandalism:
Visitors were later seen snapping selfies in front of dirty plaques. When authorities escorted Smith from the building, he said, “This is your country. This is our country. It’s our planet. …You can’t ruin it without a comment. They’re ruining the planet for profit.”
He is charged with “third degree criminal tampering and possession of a graffiti instrument.” Fox News.
The incident came the day after an extinct rebellion of an environmental activist group “spray painted a famous Wall Street Charge bull,” the outlet noted.
