Biden’s advisors considered a cognitive test but ultimately chose not to proceed, according to a book.

Last year, Joe Biden’s senior staff contemplated whether a Democratic president should undergo a cognitive test as he geared up for reelection, but the idea was ultimately rejected.

The conversation surrounding Biden’s mental acuity and age became especially relevant as the 2024 election approached. In the end, Biden withdrew from the race to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

A new book titled “2024,” authored by three experienced political journalists, reveals that Biden’s team seriously considered cognitive assessments. This insight was shared by the New York Times, noting that one of the authors is connected to the book.

According to the publication, although Biden’s aides believed he would successfully pass such a test, they were concerned that the mere suggestion of it could prompt scrutiny regarding his cognitive abilities.

The discussions regarding cognitive testing reportedly took place in February 2024, but ultimately, no tests were administered.

However, during the summer, Biden faced backlash after a disappointing debate against Donald Trump, which surprised both voters and his party members. Ultimately, he stepped aside for Harris amid significant pressure. Harris later went on to lose the presidential race to Trump, marking the reality TV star’s second term.
