Los Angeles Judge Orders Mental Health Evaluation for Stalking Suspect
In a recent court ruling, a judge mandated that a man claiming authorities crashed a vehicle through the entrance of Jennifer Aniston’s residence undergo a mental health assessment to evaluate his ability to face felony stalking and vandalism charges.
Jimmy Wayne Carweil, 48, appeared in court wrapped in a blanket, shirtless and under close custody. The Mississippi resident did not enter a plea or make any statements during the hearing.
Prosecutors allege that Carweil harassed Aniston for two years with numerous voicemails, emails, and social media messages before attempting to breach her property this past Monday.
Judge Keith L. Schwartz expressed concern about Carweil’s understanding of the situation when the prosecution requested that he be prohibited from getting close to Aniston while remaining in custody.
Carweil’s lawyer, Toral Malik, suggested that preventing any contact with Aniston wouldn’t present a significant issue. Despite this, the judge ordered a no-contact condition.
“You should not be in touch with Jennifer Aniston under any circumstances,” the judge stated firmly.
According to authorities, Aniston was home when Carweil drove a Chrysler PT Cruiser through her gates in the affluent Bel Air area, causing extensive damage. He was apprehended by security personnel before police arrived, but thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
Aniston’s legal representative, present during the hearing, chose not to comment, and other representatives for the “Friends” actress have also not responded to inquiries.
Carweil faces serious charges, including the potential for major physical harm, with a possible prison sentence of up to three years if convicted.
Lawyer Malik did not address reporters after the court proceedings.
In 2012, Aniston purchased her Midcentury Mansion for approximately $21 million, according to Architectural Digest. She rose to fame as one of the leading stars in television history with her role in NBC’s “Friends,” winning an Emmy for Best Lead Actress and earning several nominations. Currently, she is starring in Apple TV+’s “Morning Show.”
