On Friday, President Trump issued an executive order aimed at facilitating travel for illegal immigrants, including government-funded flights and financial incentives for those who voluntarily depart the U.S.
This initiative, referred to as “Project Homecoming,” involves government bodies that aid immigrants in traveling without legal documentation, offering free flights and additional services such as travel bookings and airport assistance for those leaving the country.
In a video posted on True Society, Trump stated, “We make it as easy as possible for illegal aliens to leave America.” He further emphasized that any undocumented foreigner could come to an airport and obtain a free flight.
The president noted that individuals can use the new CBP Home App from the Department of Homeland Security to book these flights. “You can go anywhere unless you’re here,” he remarked.
Earlier this week, the DHS indicated that an “exit bonus” of $1,000 would be provided for each undocumented immigrant who departs voluntarily. Trump added that ultimately, the removal of undocumented immigrants would save the U.S. “trillions of dollars.” He cautioned that those who choose to remain may encounter “severe consequences,” including hefty fines or imprisonment.
“We want you to get you out of America,” Trump asserted, while also suggesting that there could be opportunities for “good” individuals to return in the future.
The president’s order directs Secretary of State Marco Rubio and DHS Secretary Christa Noem to launch a nationwide campaign to inform illegal immigrants about the project and its implications.
Additionally, Trump called for collaboration with state and local law enforcement, as well as former federal officers, to support an aggressive campaign aimed at deporting those who do not voluntarily report themselves.
The White House has labeled this initiative a “full and aggressive spike in deportation,” set to commence within the next couple of months.
In a statement, the White House mentioned that taxpayers could incur over $150 billion in costs related to illegal immigration in 2023 alone. By promoting voluntary departures through Project Homecoming, the goal is to alleviate these expenses and redirect resources toward American citizens.
