Bailey Koch, the wife of a Nebraska man accused of murdering his family, had initiated legal action concerning his mental health support shortly before the tragic incident. Just days before the violent event that took the lives of her husband, Jeremy Koch, and their two sons, Bailey highlighted the seriousness of his struggles.

At 42, Jeremy allegedly killed Bailey, 41, and their sons, Hudson, 18, and another son, also named Hudson, who was 16.

The elder Hudson was meant to graduate from high school that Saturday, an event now overshadowed by this heartbreaking situation.

Bailey had started a GoFundMe campaign earlier this month, called “Jeremy’s Battle: Mental Health Support,” emphasizing the importance of awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month. In her messages, Bailey noted that Jeremy had attempted suicide multiple times since 2009.

Describing the escalating crisis, she wrote that Jeremy was unable to get out of bed without help and that his mental health had deteriorated significantly over the last year. “He can’t eat or drink,” she lamented, “slowly completing his suicide.”

There were indications that the family’s finances were also suffering, particularly with their landscaping business. In March, Bailey recounted a distressing moment when Jeremy confronted her with a knife but she managed to persuade him to seek hospital care again, marking his fourth such hospitalization.

Despite undergoing electroconvulsive therapy, Bailey felt it hadn’t made a difference. “It didn’t work. Jeremy has now become a shell of himself,” she expressed in her writings, clearly exhausted. “I have no pride left,” she revealed, urging others to confront the mental health crisis facing society.

Remarkably, just before the graduation, Bailey mentioned that Jeremy had been released from the hospital to attend the ceremony. The school community was left in shock after this incident, expressing their sorrow over the profound impact this tragedy had on their lives.
