The Easy Ride Has Ended

The Department of Homeland Security, under President Donald Trump, is looking into California due to claims that it may be offering federal benefits to undocumented immigrants at the expense of taxpayers.

The department announced this development on Monday.

A press release stated, “The Immigration Customs Enforcement Agency’s Homeland Security Survey (HSI) Los Angeles Field Office has issued a Title 8 subpoena to the California Cash Assistance Program for Immigration (CAPI).”

This action means authorities will access records from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Welfare to determine if undocumented immigrants received these federal benefits during the tenure of former President Joe Biden.

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem remarked, “The radical left politicians in California will prioritize illegal aliens over our own citizens, including allowing illegal aliens to access cash benefits,” in her statement.

Noem noted, “The Trump administration is working together to identify abuse and public interest exploitation, ensuring that people in this country are not illegally receiving federal benefits or other financial incentives.”

She also warned, “If you’re an illegal immigrant, you should leave now,” indicating that this investigation marks the start of efforts to root out waste and corruption.

“The gravy train is over. The summons focuses exclusively on Los Angeles County, but that’s just the beginning,” Noem added.

This initiative follows numerous actions taken by Trump’s administration aimed at preventing taxpayer dollars from being allocated to undocumented immigrants. The administration is attempting to eliminate Social Security numbers issued to illegal immigrants in the past, but the U.S. Labor Bureau has committed to implementing Trump’s executive order.

Essentially, the Labor Department plans to revoke federal grants from states that continue providing unemployment benefits to undocumented immigrants.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Deremar commented, “Unemployment benefits in our country are only available to workers who are eligible to receive them. Unemployment benefits are not illegal handouts for people in our country.”
