Chedur Sanders expressed his gratitude toward President Donald Trump after experiencing a drop during the NFL Draft last month.
According to reports, the son of NFL star Deion Sanders was selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. Trump, sharing his thoughts, noted his disappointment that Sanders hadn’t been chosen sooner.
“What’s going on with NFL owners? Are they really that out of touch? Deion Sanders was not just a standout college athlete, but he made a significant impact in the NFL as well. Plus, he’s an insightful coach. His son, Chedur, has the talent and potential for greatness,” Trump remarked.
“He ought to be picked right away by the team he’s rooting for. Best of luck, and give my regards to your amazing father!”
In a conversation with reporters on Saturday, Sanders mentioned he felt “really thankful” for the president’s endorsement.
“I felt truly grateful, I mean, really grateful,” Sanders noted. “He’s got plenty of supporters—friends in the barber shop, hairstylists. I think a lot of people in my family are rooting for me, too.
As highlighted by news outlets, the Sanders family is now one of five quarterbacks on the Browns’ roster. This comes amid DeShaun Watson’s ongoing recovery from surgeries on his tendons, leading to uncertainty about the starting position.
Sports analyst Boomer Esiason noted that NFL owners have perhaps undermined Sanders’s chances due to their reservations about his qualifications.
“If you listen to him talk, especially leading up to or during the combine, he could truly help establish a fresh dynamic in that locker room. There’s a possibility for real change,” Esiason expressed during his show.
“I’ve talked to several NFL insiders this weekend, and it seems he wasn’t on their radar. They made it clear he was dismissed, as the owner reportedly said, ‘No way, not that guy.’
Since the Draft, Shedeur Sanders has attracted considerable grassroots support, evidenced by the popularity of his rookie jerseys.
