A 20-year-old Indian national has received a three-week prison sentence for mistreating a flight attendant on a Singapore Airlines flight from Perth to Singapore.
Known simply as Rajat, he admitted guilt on Wednesday to a charge of using criminal force with the intent to cause humiliation, according to The Straits Times.
During the flight on February 28, Rajat grabbed the stewardess from behind and forced him into the bathroom.
He was apprehended upon landing at Changi Airport.
Seeking a sentence of three to six weeks, Deputy Prosecutor Eugene Lau mentioned the stewardess experienced notable psychological harm, feeling fear, disgust, and humiliation due to Rajat’s actions.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor highlighted that such incidents are particularly distressing when they occur on an aircraft.
