On Friday, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyer suggested that the music mogul’s previously undisclosed bipolar disorder might be connected to the alleged sexual assault on Cathy Ventura in 2018.
This came during a session in Manhattan Federal Court when Defense Attorney Anna Estevao inquired about Combs’ behavior on the night of the incident.
Ventura stated that Combs had remarked he was acting “oddly” during dinner earlier that evening.
The defense sought to confirm with Ventura whether Combs had attributed his “actions” that night to his bipolar condition.
In response, Ventura hesitated and replied, “I think so.”
This exchange marked the first time Combs’ possible bipolar diagnosis was brought up in connection to the ongoing sex trafficking and assault trial.
Throughout the proceedings, Combs’ erratic mood was a recurring theme, especially as Ventura shared her experiences on the stand.
She explained how his mood swings affected various aspects of her life over their tumultuous decade together.
“They influenced my life, my career, how I felt about myself, my self-worth,” the R&B artist expressed.
After several intense days of testimonies, Ventura, under cross-examination by prosecutors, recounted how Combs’ unpredictable desire for a certain lifestyle often overshadowed her own aspirations.
“If he was in the mood to be a freak, my job would take the back seat,” she noted.
Her testimony concluded on Friday after enduring four challenging days on the witness stand.
Combs, now 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and assault.
If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison, with the trial expected to continue until June.
