JD Vance shares a little-known secret about the Vatican in an interview with Glenn Beck

Vance Discusses Vatican’s Influence and Peace Initiatives

During a recent interview with Glenn Beck, Vice President JD Vance touched on various topics, including Donald Trump’s significant visit to Saudi Arabia, a European initiative on social media censorship, and plans for budget cuts regarding the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Vance also highlighted Trump’s intentions to lessen regulations for AI and energy sectors.

As Vance prepares to attend the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV this weekend alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he shared some insights on the Vatican’s reach.

“Why does the Pope matter globally, beyond just faith and religion?” Beck questioned.

Vance explained, “He leads 1.4 billion Catholics, which gives him substantial, albeit soft, influence. No army, but significant sway.”

He continued, “We managed to secure a majority of Catholic votes in the last election, but it’s worth noting that a good number of them still lean Democratic, impacting around 100 million loyal voices in the U.S.”

Yet, the Pope’s influence isn’t limited to just Catholics; he holds the attention of global leaders as well.

I mean, it’s not something you see in the headlines often, but Vance noted, “The Vatican is already stepping up in global peace dialogues. They’ve been advocating for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, among other peace efforts.”

While the Pope may not wield military power, Vance remarked, “His influence comes from his ability to mediate in conflicts, backed by the sincere prayers of many Catholics.”

Vance added that both he and Trump appreciate the Vatican’s involvement, as promoting peace and ending wars are central to Trump’s objectives.
