Texas real estate agent’s passenger in deadly Mercedes crash has a criminal history

Incident Involving Texas Real Estate Agent and Criminal Suspect

William Kistler, a 26-year-old companion, has drawn attention following a fatal incident involving a parked Mercedes. Reports indicate that Kistler had a substantial criminal history.

Ashley Long, 28, was out with friends, including Kistler, in downtown Dallas when the event unfolded on April 5th. Dallas police recounted that Kistler acted suspiciously near the passenger side of the vehicle, prompting actions from Kendrick Finch, 34, who allegedly exited the car and fired a shot.

According to an affidavit, Kistler seemed to rummage through Long’s wallet for a weapon. During this struggle, Finch reportedly opened fire, striking both Long and Kistler. While Kistler attempted to defend himself, Finch managed to flee the scene.

Long was tragically killed, and Kistler later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Finch is now facing murder charges, adding to his prior criminal record which includes convictions related to drug offenses and robbery.

Kistler, on the other hand, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and is being held in Collin County Jail. The situation escalated further when Finch reportedly fired multiple rounds during the confrontation.

Legal Proceedings and Defense Claims

Defense attorney Josh Healy claimed that the shooting was an act of self-defense and implied that Kistler’s behavior instigated the confrontation. He argued that if Kistler hadn’t attempted to access the gun from Long’s wallet, the situation might not have ended in violence.

Finch was granted bail of $500,000 and released after a judge denied attempts to lower the bond amount.

Kistler’s Background

Kistler’s previous criminal record reveals a pattern of mostly misdemeanor charges. Notably, he faced charges related to theft and assault over the years. More serious allegations regarding robbery are pending in the courts, indicating ongoing legal troubles.

In a heartfelt message, Ashley’s father, Henry Long, expressed his grief over his daughter’s death and called for justice, asserting that Finch deserves to remain imprisoned for his actions. He emphasized the profound impact of losing a child, particularly due to senseless violence, urging for accountability in the situation.
