Washington – Labor Secretary Insights on Trump’s Focus
Last week, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Deremar shared her thoughts exclusively with Breitbart News about President Donald Trump’s main priorities. She mentioned, “I think his entire career has led up to this moment. The achievements are coming to fruition now.”
During an interview at the U.S. Department of Labor, Chavez Deremar, who has robust ties to labor unions through her family’s background, highlighted her role in the evolving political landscape under Trump’s administration. She acts as a bridge between employers and employees.
She remarked, “If you really examine Trump’s career, it revolves around building coalitions. In his first term, he made significant strides. This current administration remains rooted in those principles. It’s about listening to everyone and connecting with American workers. Growing up as a Teamster’s daughter, I witnessed firsthand the hard work my parents put in to support our family. This personal experience gives me a unique outlook—one that understands both the ethos of business and the struggles of workers.”
Chavez Deremar went on to say that the administration is focused on boosting wages for American workers, which is a positive shift for Republicans, who often skirt around such direct concerns. “The real-life wage, especially for blue-collar workers, revolves around their hourly pay. They are aware of our intentions to elevate those wages,” she explained. “We need to ensure our workers are skilled so they can keep more of their earnings. It’s vital.”
She emphasized plans to enhance apprenticeship programs and nurture talent at home rather than pushing for lengthy higher education paths. In her office, a large photo of Trump serves as a constant reminder of her dedication to his vision. “I feel privileged to serve under the President. It’s evident when people visit that he’s the person I work for,” she stated.
Since Trump’s return to office, there have been significant employment gains, which Chavez Deremar attributes to the President’s comprehensive economic strategy. She pointed out that his efforts focus on benefiting workers and families, mentioning his recent diplomatic endeavors, including a trip to the Middle East and trade talks with the UK and China.
“In the first month, we saw an increase of 228,000 jobs, followed by 177,000 the next month, particularly in manufacturing and healthcare,” she noted. “Everything he does is intended for the American people. His family supports this mission, reflecting his concern for future generations.”
Chavez Deremar expressed hope that more countries would follow suit with the UK in solidifying trade agreements with the U.S. “What he’s done is unprecedented. His relationships with other nations are crucial,” she remarked, hinting at future economic collaborations.
