Tragic Shooting Near Washington’s Jewish Museum
Two staff members from the Israeli embassy were identified as victims who were set to get engaged before being shot by pro-Palestinian gunmen on Wednesday night outside the Capital Jewish Museum.
Yaron Lisinski and Sarah Milgrim, both 28, had just left a reception for young diplomats hosted by the American Jewish Commission shortly after 9 PM in Washington, D.C., when they were tragically shot.
The Israeli Embassy in the U.S. expressed their sorrow, stating, “Yaron and Sarah were our friends and colleagues. They were at the height of their lives.” The message was shared on social media.
The embassy further detailed, “Tonight, as terrorists concluded an event at the D.C. Capital Jewish Museum, they shot and killed them. The entire embassy staff is heartbroken and devastated by this murder. We cannot communicate the depths of our sadness and fear over this tragic loss.”
Lisinski had intended to propose to Milgrim during an upcoming trip to Jerusalem, as mentioned by the U.S. ambassador to Israel before their names were released. He had even purchased an engagement ring just this week.
Both individuals were employed at the Israeli Embassy in Washington. According to LinkedIn, Lisinski has been a research assistant in the political division since September 2022, while Milgrim, who holds degrees from the University of Kansas and American University, began working in public diplomacy for the embassy in November 2023.
The pair was killed by gunman Elias Rodriguez, who is suspected of being part of a group that opened fire outside the museum.
Rodriguez was apprehended inside the building, reportedly shouting “Free and Free Palestine” during his arrest.
