Authorities report that a woman in the U.S. was allegedly raped by a man following a car accident that left her injured. Rather than taking her to a hospital, a Fort Lauderdale man is accused of assaulting her on September 15, 2023.
Brenden Lee Jones, 40, was arrested last Thursday in connection with the rape charge involving someone he knew. According to a case report from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the alleged victim stated the assault occurred “somewhere behind KFC” located at 3100 W. Broward Blvd.
Jones, who is reportedly known as the drug dealer “twin,” picked up the woman from a grocery store near Dillard High School after the accident where she was injured.
The victim had asked Jones and his friends to take her home if they weren’t going to the hospital. Instead, they went to Jones’ house, where she ended up sleeping in his bed.
The report indicates that she woke up to find Jones assaulting her. He allegedly made comments like, “I can do what I want” and “I opened your f***ing legs, you crashed the car.”
Feeling “helpless” during the ordeal, she later reported the incident to the police.
Jones was arrested in 2024 after DNA found in evidence from a rape kit matched his profile.
Records from the Florida Department of Corrections reveal that Jones has served time previously for robbery, selling cocaine, and escape.
As of Friday, he remains incarcerated at Broward Main Jail with a bond set at $150,000.
