Strange news: Video captures motorcyclists colliding after hitting an alligator on a Florida highway

So, why did the alligator cross the road? Well, for two motorcyclists in Florida, it wasn’t just a joke—one of them ended up flying off his bike after colliding with the reptile last weekend.

This incident occurred on Interstate 4 in Orange County, about 30 miles north of Orlando. Motorcyclists have definitely faced risks on this highway.

“I didn’t even have a moment to do anything.”

On May 31, a group of bikers found themselves in a precarious situation when a gator decided to traverse the busy road.

Cameron Gilmore, one of the motorcyclists, said he spotted the gator about ten feet ahead. “I just thought, ‘I’m going to hit it,’” he recalled. But things escalated quickly. “It happened a little faster. I didn’t even do anything; I couldn’t hit the brakes.”

As a result of the crash, he was thrown from his bike. “I flipped over the handlebars and landed headfirst on I-4, rolling over,” he explained. Gilmore mentioned that after landing, he ended up rolling several times.

A 25-year-old female motorcyclist, following close behind, also collided with the alligator, as noted by WESH.

Footage captured by fellow bikers shows not only the alligator but also the chaos on the highway. The video depicts one of the bikers being pulled to the side and assisted.

Both Gilmore and the female motorcyclist were taken urgently to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital, where their injuries were considered serious.

Gilmore shared with WESH that he experienced significant damage to his right foot and had multiple broken bones. At 67 years old and hailing from Deleon Springs, he pointed out that this crash wouldn’t deter him from getting back on a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sent personnel to investigate the condition of the alligator, though its status remains unclear.
