Christian Slater Honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Hollywood, CA – Christian Slater has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking 50 years in the entertainment industry.
The 55-year-old star of “Heathers” described his journey with fame as “always strange.” While embracing this milestone, he reflected on the complexities of being in the spotlight. “It’s tricky. There’s a camera everywhere. You’re under a microscope, which presents its own set of challenges,” he shared. “Fame is always weird. Right now, it feels like a good level. I mean, this is humility. It’s exciting and gives me a chance to really engage with myself.”
Slater expressed his gratitude for being able to do what he loves. He mentioned that he hopes his enthusiasm for his work creates a ripple effect, like what he described as a “snowman effect.”
During his speech at the ceremony, he reminisced about his long relationship with Hollywood Boulevard, where his father once lived and performed alongside Dick Van Dyke at the Pantages Theatre. He recalled learning to skateboard on that very street while preparing for the role in “The Glow of the Cube.” “I would walk down this street, seeing all the names on the stars. I never thought I’d have my own,” he noted.
Slater mentioned his heroes, including the likes of Harrison Ford and Jack Nicholson, reflecting on the impact they have had on his life.
In honor of Slater, Sarah Michelle Geller praised his roles in various films like “Pump Up the Volume” and “True Romance.” She remarked that many actors don’t achieve the level of cultural relevance he has maintained for decades. “You’re one of those actors with multiple legacies that resonates with the new generation,” she said warmly.
Looking at his career, Slater described receiving the star as a “wonderful ending to chapters” of his life. He expressed appreciation for his family, especially his wife, Brittany Lopez, and his children. “I couldn’t be more grateful. It feels amazing to have a star, but none of this would be possible without the love I have in my life today,” he concluded.
