Arrests in LA ICE Protests Involving Twin Daughters of Local Democrats

The twin daughters of some leading Democrats in Los Angeles were arrested during protests that erupted in violence, with claims of them allegedly attacking police officers with lethal weapons. Reports suggested that this incident took place during a riot related to ICE activities.

As of Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that around 378 individuals had been taken into custody due to these protests. Among those arrested on Sunday were 26-year-old twins, Lucia Aguilar.

“The allegations are deeply concerning, and I take them very seriously,” stated a representative, reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Sources indicated that the Aguilar twins were accused of assaulting police officers with potentially lethal weapons, although details surrounding the nature of those weapons remain unclear. They were reportedly held on a bail of $50,000 before being released on Monday afternoon.

While the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department was contacted for comment, there was no immediate response.

Both twins are slated to appear in court on June 30th. They are the daughters of Rick Cole, a prominent Democrat who serves on the Pasadena City Council and has previously held the position of mayor in the city. Rick Cole has been noted as a significant aide to LA City Controller Kenneth Mezia.

“I saw a photo of my daughters handcuffed on the curb in downtown Los Angeles with LAPD. I was concerned about their whereabouts and wanted to ensure their safety,” Cole remarked in a video captured during an anti-ICE demonstration.

Cole emphasized that the anti-ICE protest held personal significance for him, advocating for the protection of undocumented immigrants in Pasadena. He called for community unity and a proactive response to support local neighbors.

In related news, Luz Aguilar, identified as a staff member for Councilman Isabel Jurado, was placed on unpaid leave following her arrest amid allegations of assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon. Jurado expressed his serious concern regarding the allegations and maintained that his team upholds high standards of conduct.

Jurado’s spokesperson described the situation as “developing” and remarked that appropriate measures would be taken pending the outcome of the investigation.

Notably, Jurado had faced controversy in the past, having made derogatory remarks toward law enforcement that resurfaced last October, drawing parallels with a well-known rap song.

In light of these events, Kenneth Mezia questioned the LAPD’s approach in relation to its pledge as a sanctuary city, raising concerns about the relationship between local law enforcement and immigration enforcement.

Despite the turmoil, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell reiterated that the department does not engage in immigration enforcement nor does it facilitate large-scale deportations.

It was also reported that violence had intensified in Los Angeles related to federal actions against undocumented immigrants. Government officials previously indicated that the National Guard had been deployed to control the unrest.
