Voters Back Trump's Use of National Guard to Control L.A. Riots by 12 Points

Poll Insights on National Guard Deployment Amid Los Angeles Riots

A recent Harvard Harris poll indicates a 12-point advantage that may influence voter support for President Trump. This could also support the potential use of the National Guard to handle the recent anti-law enforcement protests in Los Angeles, which are associated with Democratic leadership.

Conducted on June 11th and 12th with responses from 2,097 registered voters, the survey asked, “Do you support or oppose bringing in the National Guard to curb anti-ICE riots?” A majority, 56%, expressed support for the decision, while 44% were opposed.

When asked about the president’s authority to deploy the National Guard to safeguard federal agents and property in situations where local law enforcement fails to act—as many have noted in Los Angeles—the president agreed that action is necessary. However, only 45% believed the National Guard should act at the request of the state.

These findings pointed to Mayor Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) and Gavin Newsom, with 55% of respondents attributing blame for the riots to ICE operations. It’s noteworthy that only 45% of people faulted Newsom for “resisting federal agents and urging police to let violence continue.”

Another contentious issue revolves around how to manage criminal organizations. The poll revealed that when asked about sending convicted illegal immigrants back to their home countries like El Salvador, 61% supported the idea, in contrast to 39% who opposed it.

In the specific case of Kilmer Abrego Garcia, an undocumented individual deported by Trump and portrayed positively by Democrats and legacy media, only 32% felt he should have received support, considering allegations of his alleged gang affiliations.

Additionally, the poll recorded Trump’s job approval rating at 46%, with 50% disapproving. This isn’t the only survey shedding light on public sentiment regarding immigration issues.

A recent Pew poll showed that 83% of respondents advocated for some level of deportation of illegal immigrants, with 32% supporting full deportation and 51% favouring partial measures.

This month, American workers also voiced their opinions, with 53% indicating support for Trump’s deportation policy affecting Hispanic individuals.

Interestingly, many were taken aback by the evident backing for Trump’s stances on immigration policies, as highlighted by recent media coverage.

There seems to be a firm desire among Americans for deporting illegal immigrants, and there’s a clear unease about the potential for chaos reminiscent of the 2020 George Floyd riots. Trump has asserted that he won’t let such events repeat, and thus far, he appears to be aligned with public sentiment.
