The ongoing conflict between Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s associates continues to heat up, with Musk eyeing a significant advisory role in the White House. Just days after expressing regret for his previous outbursts against Trump and his ambitious initiatives, Musk criticized Trump’s civil servants.
Politics In a recent late-night update on his platform X, Elon Musk labeled Sergio Gor, a leading advisor to Trump, as a “snake.” This comment followed a New York Post article alleging that Gor, who manages the White House Human Resources Office, has yet to submit documents necessary for his permanent security clearance.
In contrast, the White House stated that Gor holds an active security clearance and meets all legal and ethical standards. White House lawyer David Warrington asserted, “Mr. Gor is fully compliant with all applicable ethical and legal obligations. His security clearance is robust, and any insinuations to the contrary are incorrect.”
Vice President JD Vance also defended Gor, commending his commitment to prioritizing American interests and supporting the president. “He’s doing a great job and I will continue to back him,” Vance remarked.
Tensions between Musk and Gor had been building for some time. Musk had previously chosen to distance himself from Gor after a contentious cabinet meeting in March. During that meeting, Musk clashed with other officials over proposed budget cuts, insisting that institutional heads, rather than Musk himself, should have authority over their departments.
The situation escalated further when Gor endorsed the termination of Jared Isaacman’s NASA appointment, a decision that seemed pivotal for Musk, prompting him to unleash criticisms of Trump and the initiatives he was advocating.
Trump had indicated that Gor’s decision regarding Isaacman’s nomination may have influenced Musk’s public critiques of the administration. This public disagreement essentially signified a breakdown in the previously cordial relationship between Musk and Trump.
Nonetheless, it appears that some of the tension has eased. Trump stated he harbored “no hard feelings” towards Musk, who, in a message on X, acknowledged that he may have overstepped in his criticisms during the dispute.
