Iran Launches Attacks on U.S. Bases in Qatar and Iraq; Missiles Captured

Missile Launches by Iran Target US Bases

Reports indicate that Iran launched ballistic missiles aimed at U.S. bases located in Qatar and Iraq on Monday. Fortunately, these missiles were intercepted, and there appeared to be no damage.

Iran’s state television noted that at least 10 ballistic missiles were involved in this incident. Just over the weekend, Iran had been threatening retaliation against U.S. positions in the Middle East, citing U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz as the reasons behind their missile strikes.

In response, the U.S. had strategically relocated air and naval assets to avoid potential harm. Reports suggested that Iran claimed to have targeted Al Udeid Air Base, a key U.S. installation in Qatar.

Earlier in the year, President Donald Trump had interacted with U.S. troops stationed at this base during a visit to the Middle East. The U.S. had anticipated possible retaliatory attacks over the past week, resulting in a repositioning of military resources. Additionally, the U.S. Navy adjusted the docking locations of its ships in Bahrain to limit exposure to damage.

According to sources, Iran launched 10 ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Iraq and one missile at the Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar early on Sunday, in direct response to U.S. military actions against its nuclear sites.

Social media platforms showcased numerous anti-missile interceptors being deployed by U.S. forces on Monday evening in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Meanwhile, the air defense systems at Ain Al-Asad Air Base in Iraq were reportedly put on high alert, compelling personnel to seek shelter in bunkers.

Trump had previously warned of severe retaliation against any attacks on U.S. forces and citizens worldwide, threats which occurred prior to the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. However, it’s possible that if Iran’s response is considered unusual, Trump might refrain from further action, a strategy he adopted after Iran launched a missile at a U.S. base in Iraq without resulting casualties in the past.

Reports also indicated that three Iranian officials communicated with Qatari counterparts prior to the attack, suggesting that they had provided advance notice to reduce potential casualties.

Qatar acknowledged the missile strikes and expressed strong disapproval, asserting that the attacks violated its sovereignty. They also condemned an escalation of tensions believed to be linked to Israel’s involvement.

This situation remains fluid and continues to develop.
