Israeli Military Operations in Iran
Israeli military leaders have disclosed that their forces conducted covert operations within Iran during what they termed Operation Raizin.
In a speech broadcast on Wednesday, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the chief of staff, stated that after 12 days of intense combat, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) effectively achieved their operational goals. He reiterated the mission’s primary objective: “Removing existential threats to the Israeli state.”
Zamir described the nature of the threat as a “plan to eradicate the state of Israel,” linked closely to Iran’s near-nuclear capabilities and a missile program that could result in extensive civilian casualties. He noted, “These were not just theoretical plans; the threat has become a reality.”
On the topic of Israel’s proactive measures, he emphasized that following years of preparation, the initial strikes were notably successful. “We hit all the targets we planned,” he said.
Discussing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Zamir shared insights from top military intelligence, indicating that the damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear program was systematic rather than isolated. He claimed that significant facilities, factories, and knowledge centers had been targeted, leading to years of regression in Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “Iran will not allow weapons of mass destruction,” he asserted.
Lt. Gen. Zamir expressed that Israel would maintain complete air superiority over Iran, enabling strikes as necessary. He credited the success of the operation to coordinated efforts across different branches of the IDF and highlighted the effectiveness of special units operating within Iran itself.
Zamir also acknowledged the crucial support from the U.S. military. “Our achievements have been bolstered by the accurate and powerful actions of the U.S. military,” he remarked, adding that coordination with American forces is strategically beneficial for Israel.
Concluding his remarks, Zamir praised the resilience and responsibility shown by the Israeli public. He emphasized that these qualities would continue to underlie their collective capability to face challenges together.
