Celebrities Celebrate Socialist Democrat Leader Zohran Mamdani's Primary Win in NYC: 'A New Hope'

Celebrity Reactions Following Zohran Mamdani’s Primary Victory

Hollywood stars are celebrating after Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani won the primary for New York City’s mayoral race on Tuesday night.

Marvel’s presence was noticeable, with an emphatic message resonating: “Dear Dems: This is what we want. This is who we want. Listen to us.”

Mark Hamill, known for his role in Star Wars, reacted to news that fellow candidate Andrew Cuomo acknowledged Mamdani’s victory. It seems there’s a mix of excitement and disbelief, perhaps a touch of disbelief in saying rumblings are echoing from the far left.

Cynthia Nixon, famous for her role in Sex and the City, hosted a fundraiser for Mamdani. She expressed joy at the defeat of Cuomo, who had previously triumphed over her in the 2018 gubernatorial race.

Rosie O’Donnell, the New Yorker who now resides in Ireland, also shared her enthusiasm for the news.

Cal Penn, who has known Mamdani since he was a teenager, celebrated at Mamdani’s victory party with some heartfelt snapshots. He’s been a long-time friend, which adds a nice personal touch to the festivities.

Comedian Patton Oswalt voiced his happiness over Mamdani’s progressive policies, questioning why anyone would oppose someone looking to improve lives.

Laverne Cox, from Orange Is the New Black, also joined in the celebration, supporting Mamdani’s accomplishments that night.

George Takei, best known from Star Trek, prematurely congratulated Mamdani, dubbing him the new mayor and suggesting his campaign should be a model for political studies.

However, it’s worth noting that the 33-year-old socialist might encounter challenges in the November general election. Rep. Laura Gillen commented, expressing concern that, in her view, Mamdani’s platform is unfeasible for New York, citing his past controversial remarks.

Ultimately, Mamdani’s journey ahead remains uncertain, filled with both celebrity support and political skepticism.
